From Emily's Journal
"Machroes beach is at the opposite end of the bay to Abersoch main beach. The perfect spot for those who like things a little quieter. The sea has a long reach in this sheltered bay and is shallow for miles and miles leaving linear furrows in the sand dotted with squiggly worm casts as the tide goes out. I love the way the shallow pools reflect the sky and its ever changing clouds and colours. It is a great place to find unusual shells and shore creatures left behind by the sea. There will often be oyster catchers trilling their haunting call, staying well out of reach and joining the forage. The Old Lifeboat Slip has been firmly rooted on this rocky point for many years and is an iconic feature of the view I love so much. When the tide is fully out, I like to walk along the sand bar to it and sometimes around the corner there are bottlenose dolphins rolling through the waves."
